Horseback riding lessons can offer so many valuable experiences, much more than simply how to sit balanced on a horse and steer it around an arena. Valuable life lessons can be learned that riders can apply to many other aspects of their life such as confidence building, critical thinking skills, building of leadership qualities, muscle and coordination development, and an incredible ability to understand patience. New and seasoned riders will always find something to take away from participating in consistent lessons.
Lessons are offered in a variety of disciplines, though are all based off of fundamental horsemanship principles. We welcome riders interested in Western and Hunt Seat Equitation and pleasure, Showmanship, Trail, Gymkhana, or general pleasure riding.
Please Note: All riders are required to sign a Waiver of Liability and Release Form prior to their first lesson. All riders are also required to wear an ASTM-SEI certified Equestrian Helmet, appropriate footwear and long pants.
Kelly is available to schedule lessons on Monday through Friday afternoons and evenings. Please note that she does travel to many show throughout the summer with her Show Team, and therefore lessons may not be available every Friday between April and September.
Lessons can be scheduled in 30 and 60 minute time blocks; weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly depending on individual goals, and personal schedule. Riders are still responsible for payment of lessons that they have failed to cancel ahead of time.
Riders under ten years old will only be eligible for 30 minute lessons unless previous arrangements have been made.
Private Lesson Pricing with Kelly:
30 minute Private Lesson: $35
60 minute Private Lesson: $60
All riders are required to wear long pants and riding boots for their lessons. Helmets are also required, but provided by DoubleStar Equestrian if you do not have your own! All other riding equipment such as saddles, bridles and grooming supplies are available for use at the barn.
Of course! We have flexible horseback riding lesson scheduling to allow for haul-in lessons. Our large, paved parking lot make loading and unloading a breeze and allows ample room to turn your truck and trailer around. All haul-in lessons must supply a current negative Coggins.
Sure! While scheduling may be limited during the summer show season months, Kelly is willing to travel to your home farm for lessons, clinics or group seminars. Contact Kelly directly for available times and travel rates. Interested in a little extra help at the horse show? See the Show Coaching page for more info on this service.
